Planning a trip to Prague and wondering how you can get from the Prague Airport to the city centre on a budget?
Chances are you’ll be travelling by plane, but you should know that the airport is quite a distance away from the city centre.
There is no direct transport to the city, but luckily we have already experimented for you, so here is the easiest and fastest way to reach the city centre of Prague from the Václav Havel Airport for just under 2 euros.
Leave the airport and find the bus stop
When you leave the plane, follow the signs to the exit of terminal 2. The bus stop you’re looking for is right outside the door, on the right.

Buy a bus ticket
You can buy a ticket at the machines located right next to the bus stop.
It is possible to change the language, so using them is very easy! The price of a 30 minute ticket is 30 Czech Crowns (1.23€), while the price for a 90 minute ticket is 40 Czech Crowns (1.64€).
Pro-tip: We recommend you buy a ticket valid for 90 minutes instead of 30. It’s only a few cents more expensive, and this way you’ll be sure to have enough time to reach your destination. It’s also valid on all public transport, including metro and trams!
There is an extra fee of 20 Czech Crowns (0.82€) for large luggage (bigger than 25 x 45 x 70 cm).
Be sure to select that option on the machine if it applies to you. If you buy a 24h (120 CZK or 4,91€) or a 72h (330 CZK or 13,50€) ticket, this fee is already covered.
- DON’T FORGET to validate your ticket at the yellow machines you’ll find at the bus stop and inside the vehicle. Prague is known for its strict controls, and an unvalidated ticket will count as not having one at all.
- The time your ticket is valid for doesn’t start when you buy it, only once it’s validated. Wait until the bus is there before you validate, or you risk wasting time for no reason.
Take the bus 119 until the last stop, Nádraží Veleslavín
This large square seemingly in the middle of nowhere is the main passage for people going in and out of Prague, and you’ll likely pass here again if you have any activities planned outside of the city, like visiting the Prague Zoo or the Botanical Gardens.
When stepping out of the bus you might feel a little lost at first but don’t worry, every one will probably head to the entrance of the metro that will be right in front of you. Follow the crowd and you’ll be fine.
Remember, you don’t need to validate your ticket a second time.
From Nádraží Veleslavín take the metro line A
It runs all the way to Wenceslas Square (Muzeum stop), smack in the middle of Prague.
Depending on where your accommodation is, you might have to change with lines B and C along the way, but don’t worry, the metro system is one of the best ones we’ve seen during our travels, and very simple and easy to understand!
